Free trips to Herm

Starting Saturday 18 November, the Travel Trident will be offering free crossings to Herm island to browse the shops for Christmas gifts and perhaps a drink or a meal at the Mermaid Tavern. The offer runs every weekend from Saturday 18th November until Sunday 10th December.

Sunday 19th November

Family Wildlife Reservoir Ramble

Meet local birder, Rod Ferbrache, at the St Saviours Community Centre for a guided ramble around the reservoir looking for birds, mini beasts, plants and fungi that thrive there. Handbags2Heels fundraiser for Bridge2

Christmas Lights Switch on

On Saturday 25th November, Father Christmas will be flying into Guernsey to kick off the festive season and turn on the Christmas lights in the streets of St Peter Port. Entertainment will begin around 3.30pm, with the big switch on happening at around 5pm in Church Square.

Castle Cornet Winter Fayre

All day Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th November, enjoy shopping and seasonal activities at Castle Cornet with live music, castle tours, Santa’s grotto, children’s activities, a craft fair with many locally made products and treats, mulled wine and mince pies. Reduced entry for the weekend: £2.50 for adults, £1.50 for children. Discovery pass holders go free

Traditional Christmas Fayre at Les Cotils

On Sunday 26th November from 11am – 5pm, Les Cotils is hosting their annual fayre, with lots of stall holders selling gifts, foods, decoration and much more. Free entry and plenty of parking. Donations being collected for Diabetes UK.

Art Exhibition at Coach House Gallery

Frances Lemmon and Keith Langlois are displaying a wide variety of work at the Coach House Gallery until 2nd Dec. This includes large music murals with bespoke frames, 3D lettering and horses, Guernsey folklore illustrations, watercolour and oil paintings, plaster bas relief work. Open Mon-Sat 11am-5pm

Santa’s Grotto at Earlswood

Santa and his animal friends will be in his fabulous grotto along with a hot food stall, donuts, candy floss, a tea cup ride and bouncy slide. The Grotto is open for a number of weekends in November and December. Tickets are popular and often sell out so pre-booking is advised. Click here for more information.

December 2017

1 – 31 December – Ice Skating at Le Friquet

The ice rink will be opening once again at Le Friquet, with sessions daily from 10am – 7pm. Sessions last 45 minutes and cost £9 for adults or £7 for children under 14, which includes skate hire.

1 December – Bridge Christmas Lights Switch On

Father Christmas will be making a reappearance at the Bridge to turn on the lights around the area. Entertainment starts around 4pm with the lights turning on around 5pm.

La Mare de Carteret Primary School Christmas Fair

On Saturday 2nd December from 1-3pm there will be stalls, toys, and games, books and a lottery, face painting, raffle, Santa’s Grotto, bottle and chocolate tumble, filled jam jars and more. Held at La Mare de Carteret Primary School.

2,3 December – Music Box Pantomime

Music Box’s 2017 Pantomime ‘The Twelve Days of Christmas’ is a funny and colourful musical interpretation of events inspired by the iconic Christmas song. A village is in despair as online shopping threatens its livelihood. Events take a turn for the worse when large parcels are delivered with strange contents including lots of live birds. For more info or to book tickets, click here. Adults tickets are £13, OAPs and Under 18s are £10. The show starts at 2pm on Saturday 2nd December and 7pm on Sunday 3rd December. Minimum age requirement is 3 years old.

6-8 December – Winter Wonderland

The Bachmann Family are opening their dazzling Christmas Lights garden display to the public once again from 6pm – 8.30pm on 6-8 December. As well as a stunning light display, there will be carol singers, seasonal food and a visit from Father Christmas. Tickets are available in advance only from Stan Brossard, Earlswood, Creasey’s, Shoestring, Woodies, St Peter’s Post Office, Forest Stores and the Cancer Research shop in Le Pollet. They cost £5 per adult and £1 for children under 12 with all funds raised going to Cancer Research UK – Guernsey and the Lions Club of Guernsey. Limited parking and a free shuttle bus service available from Specsavers.

Santa’s Sunday lunch

St Pierre Park are holding their annual Christmas lunch, with a traditional three course carvery offer on Sunday 10th and 17th December. With entertainment from the hotel’s resident magician and a visit from Santa himself, it is an event for all the family. £27 for adults and £13.50 for children aged 4-12. Under 3s dine free. 7, 14, 21 December – Late Night Shopping

The streets of St Peter Port will be buzzing with festive shoppers hunting for the perfect gifts for loved ones with street entertainment creating a Christmas atmosphere. Shops open until 9pm

Santa Fun Run – Sunday 17th December

Don your Santa suit and raise money for Aid Reaching Children. The adult run starts at Pembroke Car Park at 11.30am with the children run beginning at 11.45am from Bulwer Avenue, to Church Square. Entrants may run, jog, walk, stroll or scoot. Check in by 11am. Registration forms can be picked up from Aladdin’s Cave, with a £5 entry fee. A Santa suit can be purchased for an extra £2.

Boxing Day Swim

After the cosy indulgences of Christmas Day, join the annual Boxing Day sea swim at Cobo Beach.
