Island RIB Voyages

Toddler Sense Summer Programme

With most toddler groups closing for the long summer holiday, Toddler Sense classes enable you and your little one to retain a little bit of routine by running a five-week summer programme during July and August.

Classes are held at Rohais Methodist Church Hall. If you would like to reserve a place, please email guernsey@toddlersense.co.uk.
Holiday Playscheme

Playscheme is a fun yet rewarding environment for your children to grow and learn new skills every day of their school holidays. Run by the Youth Commission and held at the Les Ozouets Campus Youth Centre (the old St Peter Port School), sessions are open to all children of primary school age.

Spaces are limited and allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. The Playscheme form relevant to each of the main school holidays becomes available on the first Monday of the half term prior to the main holiday. Booking forms are available to download here or can be collected from the Les Ozouets Campus Youth Office.

Beau Sejour Holiday Club

Children from Reception to school year 9 are very welcome at the Beau Sejour Activity Club. They offer children a variety of activities, tailored to different ages, whilst socialising and making friends. Guernsey Soccer School

The Guernsey Soccer School will once again be running their Football for a Fiver sessions during the summer holidays. For just £5 children in years 1 to 8 have the chance to take part in lots of football, including games, penalty shootouts and the crossbar challenge. Email soccerschool@guernseyfc.com for more info.

Sports Starz

Sports Starz is a relatively new sports activity company and this year they will be running a Holiday Club at Blanchelande College. With both indoor and outdoor space to use, the team will be able to encourage children to take part in a variety of different sports, including football, dancing and tennis. This annual event has a display of horses and Guernsey goats and sheep as well as our famous Guernsey cows, with lots of refreshments available (no licensed bar) including ice cream from Le Hechet Farm.

KGV – Beyond the Boundary

Just when you thought summer couldn’t get any better, hotter, wetter, wilder, slightly moist or plain dusty comes the first KGV – Beyond the Boundary Festival. This weekend will be fun for everyone!

Saturday 29th July

Rocquaine Regatta

This is an annual highlight in our calendar, a family fun-filled day at Rocquaine Bay with boat races taking place throughout the day. You can all join in the fun – how about the junior sand events (apple bobbing, wheelbarrow races, pick a pint of winkles, three-legged race) or the new ‘wife carrying’ event? Pavement artists, the Guernsey Majorettes and live music will add to the atmosphere and an evening barbecue will conclude a fantastic day of fun. There will also be free entry to the fascinating Fort Grey Shipwreck Museum all day, where we guarantee the kids will love exploring the history of our unique waters.

Charities Fete at Government House

A Charities Fete hosted by the Association of Guernsey Charities and held in the grounds of Government House with lots of stalls run by a range of local charities and entertainment. From 2-5pm, admission is FREE.

Entertainment from the Boys Brigade band, Swingalong, the Grammar School Swing Band and the Island Dog Training Club. There will be a static display by St. John Ambulance and the Guernsey Fire & Rescue Service and over 25 stalls run by local charities.

Attendees can take the bus or park with a £2 fee at nearby Beechwood College or Government House. Hot drinks and cakes will be available. No dogs please.

Pirate Bay – Launch Party

Sunday 30th July is the Pirate Bay Adventure Golf launch party! Everybody is welcome to pop along from 11am to 4pm to check out the new adventure golf course!. There are plenty of fun and games planned.. and you will even get to meet Pierre the Pirate!

Dizzy Donkey Family Day

The perfect way to kick start the summer holidays, come and take part in the Bear Hunt – £1 to enter and all correct entries get put into a draw to win a prize. Free bouncy castles, refreshment stalls and van. DJ Donkey will be coming down to play some music and the Rebellion Allstars will be performing! Rubis Soap Box Challenge

Back for its second year and as part of the Guernsey Motor Festival, this year’s new track for the Rubis Soap Box Challenge provides more thrills and spills. The track runs down St Julian’s Avenue from the Candie Road junction to the finish line at the pedestrian traffic lights by the Swan Inn so will offer excellent vantage points for spectating. Get a team together with your friends, work colleagues, clubs or schools. Entries are now open at a cost of £20 per team. Thursday 3rd August

Sound will be hosting their first Pool Party at La Vallette Bathing Pools! It’s FREE for all ages and there’s going to be great live music all afternoon from bands including Track Not Found, VICE GSY, Acoustic Accord plus a very special headliner TBA. Fingers crossed for good weather (if it rains, it will be rescheduled) and huge thanks to the States Land Management Services, Guernsey Arts Commission and the Albany Apartments for supporting this event.

The Torteval Scarecrow Festival

An absolute joy to take part in as a family. Follow the map through the festival path and vote for your favourite scarecrow. They come in all shapes and sizes and many with topical themes! Over 60 scarecrows are along the trail that takes approximately 1 hour 30 mins. Refreshments, crafts, bouncy castles and more are also available.

Alderney Week

Welcome to Alderney Week, the Channel Islands’ biggest carnival and community festival, now in its 67th year. Spend a week in the sun and let them entertain you! The South Show

Islandmums has supported this event over the last few years and we are delighted to do so again.

Lots of amazing exhibits to admire – fruit & vegetables, flowers, baking and arts and crafts (entries for these open to all residents of Forest, St Andrew’s, St Peter Port & St Martin’s).

Plus all your show favourites – open to all islanders – including the popular Bonny Baby contest, Adult & Children’s Dcorated Hat competition, Children’s Fancy Dress, and the annual Fun Dog Show.

Loads of free or ‘pocket money’ children’s games and crafts, the Island Dog Training Team, local craft stalls, bouncy castles, face painting, hot and cold refreshments, live entertainment and a small licensed bar!

The Harbour Carnival

The Harbour Carnival is a fun-filled family fundraising event in and around St Peter Port Harbour. Events include duck races, dinghy races, paddle board race, tug of war and man-powered flight, all culminating in a spectacular fireworks display. This year RBC are celebrating 10 years of supporting the Round Table’s Harbour Carnival so the birthday atmosphere will be ramped up with live music, entertainment and a few other celebratory touches!

The West Show

Fete d’Etai: Summer Festival

Another favourite of ours…Castle Cornet hosts its annual Medieval Summer Festival, the Fete d’Etai. This daytime event is a medieval extravaganza with plenty to keep you entertained. Performers and storytellers will transport you back in time within the fitting surroundings of a medieval castle. Listen to the stories, watch the sword fight re-enactments and even give archery a go! With competitions and activities for both adults and children, this is a great choice for a family day out. Free entry to those dressed in medieval costume. We will have all the details for you soon.

Wednesday 23rd – Thursday 24th August

The North Show

The North Show is one of the main events in Guernsey’s summer calendar, and takes place in the wonderful setting of Saumarez Park. View the displays of exhibitors’ entries, ranging from Guernsey livestock through to fur and feather, fruit, vegetables, flowers, cookery, photography and arts and crafts. Then move on to the arena which has events showcasing local and off-island talent, including the Guernsey Battle of Flowers on day two. Check out the fair and enjoy some refreshments, and don’t forget to  come back on the last night to see the illuminated cavalcade, one of the best firework displays of the year.

The Vale Earth Fair

The Channel Islands’ longest running music and arts festival takes place on Sunday 27th August at the Vale Castle. With a varied mix of artists from around the world joining our local talent, performing over six stages, this year promises to be the best yet!  Profits from the Vale Earth Fair are split between humanitarian organisations the Burma Campaign UK, Free Tibet and Bridge2.
